About Me

Currently I hold the title of Visionary, and as such am not confined to a single company or organization. In other words, I'm doing a bit of this and a bit of that, so if you need a bit of this, or a little of that, then let me know.

Most recently I was Chief Experience Officer at SlimTrader, where I was responsible for defining and driving the customer experience.  We used SMS messages to enable customers in Africa to buy and sell goods and services on their mobile phones.  Unfortunately the company ran into funding issues and we were not able to continue.

Prior to that, I was with Expedia, Inc.  Specifically Expedia Worldwide.  I was a co-business owner of the Site Conversion queue.  I used web analytics tools such as Tealeaf and Omniture to determine the customer impact various site issues were causing.  Comparing the problem state conversion rate versus a "happy path" conversion rate we could calculate the true impact Expedia's business.  There was a dedicated development queue to fix site conversion issues, and the queue was prioritized based on these monetary calculations, severity of customer impact, and time-to-market.  We identified, quantified, and delivered projects literally worth tens of millions of dollars a year in gross revenue.

Prior to that I worked for Avenue A | Razorfish as an Analyst with the Advanced Optimization team. I tracked user behavior on websites and examined conversion rates, friction points, and other site issues, then produced key findings and recommendations to improve the site or process flow. Clients included ebayO2AT&T, and Cingular (now AT&T), among many others.

I am also a drummer in the local Seattle indie band The Torn ACLs.  I am also a member of Imperial Standard.  Formerly the drummer for The Back Burners.   I play on a purplish Tama Starclassic Birch/Bubinga kit, and use Vic Firth sticks. Currently I'm fond of the SD4 Combo or 7AN. I also use Zildjian cymbals.

Prior to working with AA|RF, I was an Analyst with Accenture in their Seattle office. I was in the Business and Systems Integration Consulting workforce in Communications & High Tech operating group. I worked on projects at Microsoft in their telecom and call center group and a worked briefly on a project with the Office 2007 team prior to my departure. I also worked on an engagement atStarbucks doing spend analysis.

In the fall of 2004 I made a trip to Europe with my roommate Ben. I visited France, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, England, and Wales. The trip was amazing and I hope to go back soon. Perhaps one day I'll be able to use the vacation days that I accumulate...

Prior to that I graduated in June 2004 from the Univeristy of Washington in Seattle. I graduated with a B.S. in Informatics from The Information School, and maintained a 3.4 GPA. I was also the Communications Officer for the Informatics Undergraduate Association (IUGA), the Informatics student group.

During my last year and through the summer I worked two jobs. One was for the Student Technology Fee, as the Program Coordinator. The Tech Fee is the largest student-controlled fund in the state of Washington. Last year the Committee awarded approximately $4.5 million to various campus units to implement technology proposals.

I also worked as an undergraduate research at Intel Research Seattle. I worked on the Place Lab project, which explored location-enhanced computing applications. My two main research leads were Drs. Anthony LaMarca and Ian Smith. While on the Place Lab project I helped design the original proof-of-concept demonstration for the UbiComp 2003 conference in Seattle. I also worked on the public website (placelab.org), did user interface design, wrote custom Java statisitcal packages, and various other tasks.
